CLOSING THOUGHTS

From Coach Pfaff

In the development of the Foundation Course, we have set out to produce a wide array of topics on a spectral basis, with an emphasis on supplying information that is broad-based, reliable, and possesses strong construct validity at all levels of sporting excellence. By doing so, it is our hope that with the completion of this course you are further motivated to expand your arsenal as a coach/educator in many directions, and have found renewed confidence to experiment with the information gleaned. Our aim throughout all 12 Modules has been to offer help and hope to all levels of coaches searching for better concepts, methodologies, and direction. We trust you have found the content within to be of assistance in helping you with these tasks.

As you will have noted, we have deliberately placed a strong underlying emphasis on the application of said materials. As you apply new material, remember the course will always be here for you to refer back to as you evolve your practice: we are always amazed at the lessons that can be learned from re-reading material, so as you apply what you have learned to practice, we encourage you to come back and use the course as a reference guide. We are also excited about the future of the Foundation Course – which will continue to evolve: This course has been designed to operate as a ‘living document’ that will continue to grow over time; as new information becomes available; as new research is applied; as we learn more. This method of creation is founded upon the embodiment of our continued efforts to promote our philosophy of life-long learning.

APPLYING WHAT YOU’VE LEARNED

Now you have completed this course, our hope is that it has compelled you to want to take the next step in your professional development. As discussed, we strongly promote the importance of building a network, and if you don’t already have one to lean on – we encourage you to reach out. Building a network to include a mentor or a series of mentors in the coaching process – no matter what level of experience or success achieved – is a critical component in any coach’s development.

Here at ALTIS, mentorship is a layered and multifactorial process.
