Day four of competition at the IAAF World Championships in Beijing saw incredible success for Altis athletes Greg Rutherford and Fabrice Lapierre.

Rutherford, who was aiming for gold to complete his collection that includes Olympic, European and Commonwealth Gold, was is sensational form and duly obliged with two outstanding jumps of 8.29 and 8.41 to win the competition.

“It’s unbelievable. This was my best ever performance,” reflected Rutherford. “The stresses this year, I can’t even express to you. I can’t wait to get home and see my family.”

Fabrice Lapierre won a silver medal to complete an incredible Altis 1-2!

Training partner Fabrice Lapierre was to complete an Altis 1-2 as he jumped a fantastic 8.24 to take silver. Both athletes under the guidance of lead jumps coach Dan Pfaff, and will be presented with their respective medals ahead of Wednesday night’s action.

Also on Tuesday night, Anaso Jobodwana (South Africa) and Jeremy Dodson (Samoa), qualified for the 200m semi finals this evening. Jobodwana being the fastest athlete in qualifying and Dodson running his quickest race since 2011.
