South African sprinter Anaso Jobodwana finished third to take an impressive bronze in this evenings’ IAAF World Championships 200m final in Beijing.

In doing so, Jobodwana set a new PR and National Record with a 19.87 time as the Altis medal tally continues to grow.

“I’m happy that I was able to run a personal best and get a medal,” Anaso reflected. “Everything that we have been working on this season finally came together at the right time. I’m just happy and relieved.”

Anaso’s coach at Altis Stuart McMillan, who heads up the sprints group, gave his reaction to the race.

“I’m very proud of Anaso. He handled the rounds very well, committed to his race strategy, and executed it perfectly.”

“He made us all sweat a little by leaning for the line a little early – and it almost gave the medal to the hard-charging Alonso Edward.”
