Grand Canyon University graduate Shavine Hodges is the latest Athlete set to relocate to Altis Harking from Montego Bay, Jamacia, Hodges is an emerging prospect with a bright future.
“We have found an under the radar talent we can continue to develop” Recruitment Director – Andreas Behm explained; “Shavine trained with some very accomplished sprinters back home in Jamaica and we hope we can help elevate her to that next level.”
We talked to Shavine to find out more her and the upcoming move to Altis:
What is your home-town?
I am from Montego Bay, Jamaica.
How old are you?
I am 22 years old.
What School did you attend and what is your Degree in?
I graduated from Grand Canyon University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology with an emphasis in Pre-Med and a Master of Science in Addiction Counseling.
What events do you compete in, and what are your PR’s?
100m – 11.33s
200m – 23.04s
Your ideal vacation?
My ideal vacation would be a getaway at an all-inclusive resort.
What has been the best day of your life so far?
The best day in my life so far was a few months ago when I won the 100m and 200m at the Division 1 Altis Championships in personal best times.
I do not have a favorite movie, but my favorite types of movies are romance comedies.

When you’re not on the track, what do you do?
Socialize with friends and family, watch TV, listen music and play video games.
Have you competed in other sports?
Who is your sporting hero?
Do you have a favorite quote?
Yes – “Think positive do positive and you will have positive outcomes.”
What are your career goals?
My aim is to be the 100m and 200m World Record Holder, and to become a Licensed Independent Substance Abuse Counselor, Addiction Medicine Doctor, and an Orthopedic Physician.
What do you hope to be doing after your athletic career is finished?
Pursue my career in Medicine and Counseling.
What does T&F need to do to build its popularity in North America?
Invest more into the sport and have more world-class meets in the country.
What are the 3 most important factors that determine your success?
My Faith, my patience and my determination.
What motivates you to reach this success?
My little sisters and the rest of my family!
What has prevented you from succeeding in the past?
Improper nutrition, not much competition, and lack of weights training.
What can prevent you from succeeding in the future?
Nothing! I am in this 100% and ready to put in all the work that is necessary for my success.
Why did you choose to join Altis?
After doing extensive research I came to the conclusion that this is the best professional training group and facility…Altis is a world-class facility and some of the world’s best athletes train here including the 110m hurdles world record holder Aries Merritt.
What are you most looking forward to about being based here?
The training and the success that will come after my hard work!

No, I am confident and I trust God that he is steering me in the right direction.
