Highlights from the past week came in the form of National Records for Jeremy Dodson and Hafsa Kamara, in addition to multiple Seasons’ Best performances from athletes competing across Europe, the USA, and North Africa.

Beijing – Wednesday May 18th

Aries Merritt won the 110m Hurdles at the IAAF World Challenge in the Olympic stadium, with a time of 13.24s.

Tucson Elite Throwers Classic – Thursday May 19th and Saturday 21st

Yangbo Yang secured first in the women’s Discus with a throw of 60.17m in the first round, with ALTIS team-mate Rachel Longfors following in third place with 58.04m.

Ostrava Golden Spike – Friday May 20th

Wilfried Koffi finished 5th in the 100m with a time of 10.38, whilst Mexican sprinter – Carlos Herrera placed 4th in the 200m in 20.57.

Great City Games – Manchester, England – Friday May 20th

Isabelle Pederson came third for Norway in a time of 13.30m in the 100m hurdles. Olympic Champion Greg Rutherford won the Long Jump with a leap of 8.20m – a meet record, followed by Melvin Echard who secured a mark of 7.53m in his International debut.

ALTIS Summer Series #2 – Saturday May 21st

In the 100m Schillonie Calvert showed great form, running 11.21 & 11.19 – both SB times, and faster than any time she ran last year. In the men’s race BeeJay Lee ran a SB time of 10.09, whilst Jeremy Dodson had the race of his life, securing a Personal Best and National Record for Samoa in a time of 10.21. A personal highlight also came for Hafsa Kamara, who ran a National Record for Sierra Leone, in a time of 11.61s.

In the Long Jump Tori Polk secured a wind legal 6.68m for a SB, backed up by a windy 6.77m (+2.7). Pole Vaulter Kylie Hutson also showed great form, clearing 4.66m in impressive style.

IAAF Diamond League – Rabat, Morocco – Sunday 22nd May

Fabrice Lapierre jumped a full 27cm further than his mark in China earlier in the week, to finish with a SB performance of 8.36m for 2nd place.

Wilfried Koffi placed 2nd in the 200m in 20.35s, whilst Carlos Herrera ran 20.55 for 4th place.

Loughborough International, England – Sunday 22nd May

Returning to Loughborough, discus thrower Dan Greaves threw a season’s best throw of 58.65m. Following his successful international debut, just two days earlier – Melvin Echard finished in 3rd place with a jump of 7.50m.
