We are pleased to announce the appointment of two new staff members to the Altis Team.

Rick has joined our therapy team on an interim basis for a period of 3 months, and will aid in delivering our track-side performance therapy – primarily working with our semi-professional and visiting athletes. Rick will apprentice under coaches Dan Pfaff and Stuart McMillan, as well as our track-side chiropractor, Nick Porterfield. Rick, who earned his bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training and Masters degree in Sports Healthcare, will also aid in the education of our assistant coaches.
The former collegiate soccer player is joining us in conjunction with his role at Paradise Valley Community College as Athletic Trainer, where he currently manages over 150 athletes in 12 sports. It is envisioned that Rick will be a valuable member of the Altis Team for the long-term, and this agreement is the first step in achieving this objective. Commenting on his appointment, Rick said: “The staff are phenomenal, and I’m excited to be involved in a team approach to training and therapy.”
Sammy Montaner – Performance Intern
Sammy will be charged with the management and maintenance of track and weight facilities whilst integrating and learning from our coaches & athletes to develop his knowledge of our training systems. He will also assist our sprints, hurdles, jumps, throws coaches to optimize training sessions alongside the completion of his Masters degree in applied Kinesiology.
Reflecting on his appointment, Sammy explained: “I am honored and privileged to be an intern at Altis because I am surrounded by coaches and athletes who are truly passionate about what they do … Altis truly embraces the fact that training and optimal performance is an art form requiring constant monitoring of bio-mechanics, adjustments to training volumes and manual therapy as there are so many variables that come into play with the human body and individual needs.”
Athlete Services Manager Nick Sheuerman added: “We are very happy to have such a selfless and enthusiastic individual on board. His decision to fore go the safety of a stable career is not only a testament to his desire to be great, but also the status of the Altis as a destination for coaches and athletes alike.”
Both staff members will form an integral part of our operations, and will aid in delivering on our primary purpose – of fostering an environment that best prepares athletes and coaches to compete or coach at the highest level whilst developing our reputation as the premier Track & Field Training Center in the world.
