Rachel Longfors just celebrated her 30th birthday and is looking to make her appearance at U.S.A. Nationals a memorable one.
The former University of Florida Gator and current nursing student has learned to balance life on and off the track. Her dedication to the sport through the World Throws Center under the guidance of John Godina has resulted in a new personal best of 58.10 on May 16th 2013. She hopes to build on her performance at the U.S.A. Outdoor Nationals in Des Moine, Iowa later this month.
Longfors goes into the meet with high expectations. Having applied herself loyally to the World Throws Center and World Athletics Center this year, she feels she has no reason but to compete well. Her ultimate goal, she claims, is to make team U.S.A for World Championships in Moscow Russia in August. A personal best at the Nationals could result in a ticket to these Championships.
Former World Champion Brad Walker also of the WAC prepares for the same competition in Des Moines (June 21st, 2013). Brad enters the championship ranked 1st in the country and 3rd in the World with a jump of 5.83. Walker, having already achieved the A standard for World Championships, will look to place in the top three to solidify his place on the team.
