Competition heats up for Altis Athletes

As Altis athletes this weekend head to Iowa & California to compete, this week has already seen some stellar performances achieved – the highlight so far being British Pole Vaulter Steve Lewis‘ season’s best at the Drake Mall Vault on Wednesday, which saw the two time Olympian match World Record holder Renaud Lavillenie’s clearance of 5.71m, to place second on countback.

Yesterday also saw Season’s Bests for Altis Long Jumpers at the 2014 HP/OTC SERIES I meet yesterday, as Canadian Christabel Nettey placed second in the women’s competition with a leap of 6.65m, whilst USA’s Melvin Echard placed 7th, jumping 7.70m

The competitive action continues today in Des Moines, Iowa – at the Drake Relays where Jeshua Anderson is set to compete in the 400m hurdles. 110m hurdles World Record holder – Aries Merritt will also start – in a special Men’s Shuttle Relay event.
